DocuDay February 25th at the Writers Guild Theater →
You know that part of the Oscars when you get up and go to the bathroom and say things like, “Who sees the documentary shorts, and how do you even do that, anyway?” Well, the annual thrill event of the year is here, Tumblr readers. Tomorrow, all Academy Award-nominated documentaries are playing at the Writers Guild Theater in Beverly Hills. Maybe give it a try.  (In all seriousness,...

Hula hooping continues. This one is about 7 minutes long, but big info is revealed midway through, so it’s totes worth it! I also discuss my fear of bees.  It is edited together and there are often random shots of my feet or the hoop or other activity thrown in in a senseless fashion. I figure at least it keeps the viewer jarred awake from my ceaseless talking. You’ll wish there was...

Tonight!
It’s Mardi Gras, people. We don’t have to get wasted, show our tits and pee in the streets, but let’s have some drinks and listen to some live tunes, ok? Harvard & Stone? Sister Rogers w/ The Downtown Train & Special Set by Deux Sons I’ve never heard any of these bands but the words ‘bassa nova,’ ‘jazz,’ ‘samba,’...

When faced with high winds and given the luxurious option of scooter or car? Choose car. Leaves down the blouse otherwise become merely the first of many obstacles.

Stop Beating Yourself Up.
davidfuternick: Beating yourself up is like such a fucking stupid waste of your life.  Idiot. I had a bad day today. Dave Futernick just made me feel better. Actually, it was probably the long, fast-paced neighborhood walk, followed by black tea aaand 3-4 glasses of wine with homemade Mom dinner + 108 people singing live to me behind an orchestra, and thennn the 2 pints of beer at Cole’s...

latimes: How much genuine value is there in fancy educational electronics? Don’t let companies or politicians fool you, says columnist Michael Hiltzik. This is a really important and interesting topic right now as corporations control not only our politicians but also our education? Technology in the classroom is important, of course, but it’s quickly getting out of hand and not proving...

In 2008, when the Giants beat the Patriots in the Super Bowl when no one thought they could do it, after being told to remove my boots from nervously tapping too much on the wooden apartment floors and then jumping up on the couch in celebration while continuously phoning my father to scream with excitement, we danced in our Queens neighborhood streets to the local pub that offered drinks on the...

Slowly gaining on my hula hoop goal. Here’s another video diary of my not-at-all intense or focused training to run a mile while hula hooping in 14 minutes or less. It’s not particularly exciting, but it does include MUSIC this time AND (a little) actual editing! I’d noticed that everyone watched the boring first video of me at Toys R Us, and then viewership tapered off greatly...

Los Campesinos - Feb 11
I’m selling a concert ticket. AGAIN.  My parents are visiting the weekend of the Los Campesinos! show at the Echoplex.  :/ After much thought and reflection, I believe that’s the correct emoticon for this situation. So, I’ll be spending that night, as well as Valentine’s Day, with them! Anyway, if anyone wants to go, buy it from me, not from Ticketweb. Feb 11th.  $20. I...

'folk violinist and champion whistler'
Andrew Bird performed a live webcast concert from London last week. The performance was the first of a monthly series taking place in the installation space A Room for London, a riverboat perched on the roof of Queen Elizabeth Hall. The Room for London Vimeo page won’t let me embed the video on Tumblr, but I still like them, in theory.  WATCH & LISTEN HERE.
